Prochaine assemblée de la CLAC: Mardi 30 août 2011 - UQAM A-1875
To anti-capitalist individuals and groups evolving around CLAC-Montréal
Greetings!
The next general assembly of CLAC-Montréal will happen on Tuesday August
30th at 6PM. We hope to welcome a large number of people there!
The current global situation continues to be dominated by the capitalist
crisis that, day after day, “globalizes a bit more”. Everywhere in the
rich countries, governments impose austerity measures that impoverish
the vast majority. Now and always, the best imports and exports of
capitalism are still misery!
Revolts of the masses in the heart of imperialist countries such as
Greece or Spain, heroic intifadas against blood-thirsty regimes
submitted to imperialism in the Arab countries, armed resistance against
occupations in Palestine, Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan show that the
world's peoples are not powerless against tyranny.
The idea that there are no alternatives to global capitalism cracks
under the blows given by the general crisis of capitalism and
imperialist wars.
In Canada, the election of a majority Conservative government lets us
foresee that we will soon face the same attacks and difficulties.
Numerous attacks against women, queer and trans people, immigrants,
natives and “criminals” reinforce the white male elites that continue to
colonize and exploit by dividing communities and impoverishing workers.
Meanwhile, the provincial government tries to pay back its deficit on
our backs.
We must fight back now! Looking at what's ahead, it is important that
the resistance initiatives that work to root themselves in the local
issues and those that work on global issues unite to fight as a bloc.
This bloc will be as solid as it will be diverse, but still united
against capitalism.
During a special meeting of CLAC in last January, roughly 30 people
confirmed new mandates for CLAC-Montréal, including that of organizing
two general assemblies a year ; one in September, and one in January, to
anti-capitalists groups and individuals to show their analysis, to
coordinate their activities, and possibly to organize common actions
under the name CLAC-Montréal.
In this next assembly, we'll talk about the next upcoming struggles:
Anti-capitalist perspectives on opposing Harper's politics
A large discontent seems to grow around conservative politics,
notoriously amongst community organizations, unions, students and other
groups. Do we have the potential to develop a movement against
conservative politics from a larger and more radical perspective? Is it
strategic to lead such a campaign in the current situation?
Actions in solidarity with the resistance to the next G20
The next G20 summit will happen on November 3 and 4 in Cannes, France.
Do we want to organize an anti-capitalist mobilization against the G20
in Montréal?
Solidarity with the Toronto 17
From September to December 2011 the preliminary audience of the Toronto
17 will occur. How could Montréal be effective in showing solidarity?
Solidarity with the student movement
The student movement in Québec is announced to boil as the struggle
against tuition hikes will begin. How can we interconnect the student
struggles with local and global issues?
Mayday 2012
Since CLAC-Montréal has been designated to organize the next
Anti-capitalist Mayday, we'll start the discussions over the next edition.
GAMMA Squad
We'll bring people up to date on the arrests that happened this summer
under the SPVM new GAMMA Squad. We'll also sum up actions taken against it.
As you can see, this fall will be hot and busy! This is why we call this
invitation to all groups and persons interested to fight with us, to
participate in the August 30th General Assembly, and to send us your
perspectives and ideas as soon as possible.
Let's participate en masse in the August 30th CLAC-Montréal General Assembly
Anti-capitalist solidarity!
